From July to September last year, cable hardware vendors shipped 8.2 million Docsis cable modems, embedded multimedia terminal adapters (E-MTAs), and integrated gateways -- a 10.5 percent jump from a year earlier. While the newswires are full with reports that Motorola will be quitting the handset business, their broadband business is booming. According to Cable Digital News, Motorola continues to rule the cable modem roost.
