iWeb 2.0.3 update released. Yesterday's Pages 3.0.2 update somewhat explained.

Similar to yesterday's iWork '08 'compatibility and performance' updates, Apple today issued a 'compatibility' update to iWeb bringing it up to version 2.0.3. Again, no details on what's been fixed.

Google Toolbox for Mac released

Google Toolbox for Mac is a new open source project that joins the Google Data APIs Object-C Library as code available under the Apache license so you can use it in your own projects. Does it sound like I'm quoting a press release? Well, I am a bit. Google Toolbox for Mac is clearly for Mac geeks, but not my particular genre of Mac geek, so bear with me.

MacBook Air shipping. That Apple TV update Jobs promised? Not quite yet.

I usually don't bother reporting when products ship. I really don't feel it's all that interesting unless you actually pre-ordered that particular product and, in that case, you were probably already notified. This time, I decided I would write a little something because the press release announcing the shipping of Apple's new MacBook Air came with a little unrelated bad news as...

Blast from the past: make a cool custom CSS Mail signature

We've written a lot of tutorials over the years and it continues to amaze me how they find and refind audiences. A tutorial will often take months to attract any attention from other sites while others will explode with page views right from the first day. Often times a tutorial that was big buzz years ago will enjoy a resurgence. It is my hope that I might cause just such a resurgence in...

Speak like Jobs

For anyone who watched both the Bill Gates' CES Keynote Address and Steve Jobs' Macworld Keynote Address, one simple conclusion is blatantly obvious: Steve Jobs is a much better public speaker than Bill Gates. To paraphrase Jobs' quote on the thinness of the MacBook Air and apply it to a comparison of these two speeches, Jobs' keynote was less awkward at its worst than Bill Gates' keynote was at...

Compatibility and performance issues addressed in iWork update

It's Software Update time again. Today, iWork '08 users were treated to the bouncing blue icon in their Dock alerting them to Keynote 4.0.2, Numbers 1.0.2 and Pages 3.0.2. Scant information has been published on what specific issues have been addressed with these updates only that they 'improve compatibility and performance.'

Put earbud Jack in charge of your earbuds and help hearing health orgs

What If Widgets' earbud Jack is a cross between the function of the Sumanjin Smartwrap and the design of Raffaele Iannello's Voodoo Knife Block. This little man organizes your iPod earbud cable and provides a little morale boost in the process.

More older Apple products to be put on the Vintage and Obsolete list in March

On March 18th, the following Apple products will be categorized as 'vintage' or 'obsolete:'

1Password 2.5.9 adds Password Strength Meter and more

If you bought the MacHeist bundle this year, you got 1Password and you should be using it. If you didn't buy the MacHeist bundle, it's too late but not like I didn't try to tell you. At USD$29.95, 1Password is still a steal for what it does.

iPod earbuds not big enough for you? Try these!

From day one, many iPod users complained that the earbuds packaged with the media device were uncomfortably large. They ain't seen nothing yet!

Sharp eyes spy Time Machine changes in MWSF keynote demo

Some sharp eyes watching Steve Jobs' keynote address from last week's Macworld Conference and Expo noticed a new button added to the bottom of Time Machine's window. The button is marked 'Only Show Changes' and, I'm guessing, that once pressed it will change Time Machine's behavior to only show files that have changed from backup to backup--call me crazy.

The Apple color picker just got ''kuler''

The soon to be renamed CocoaKuler enables Mac OS X apps to explore and find color themes via the Apple color picker using Adobe's kuler online community all in Cover Flow-like style. The color picker plug-in works with any app that supports OS X's built-in color picker system (including Photoshop--just choose the Apple color picker in the app's General Preferences).

Agua Leopard Folders... so refreshing

At the risk of becoming a Mac icon news site, I thought I'd let you know that the Iconfactory's David Lanham has expanded his crisp, clean Agua icon series with the release of Agua Leopard Folders.

Bird-Electron EZ-18B iPod touch speaker stand

I don't know if this is particularly new, but it caught my eye and, if I actually had an iPod touch, I'd be inclined to buy one.

FastIcon.com unearths Dino Icons

Fast Icon Studio has released a new icon set: 'Dino Icons', which contains 6 freeware icons of cute dinosaurs and cavemen.

Adobe posts InDesign CS3 5.0.2 update

How annoying is Adobe Updater? I'm trying to get some work done, but it wants me to authorize the downloading of several updates and then restart my Mac. It's a petty beef, but it's mine.

MacHeist II Bundle now 14 apps for $49. Time is ticking folks.

When we last left MacHeist... it was inching its way toward an amazing USD$100,000 collected for charity. Well, since then, it has trampled that measly hundred grand, surpassed a quarter million (yes, USD$250,000) and has set its sights in the goal of USD$300,000.

No invitations necessary; Skitch now in public beta

Still taking its time to reach a final official release, Plasq's Skitch has at least been moved along to a public beta so that everyone can get hooked on it. The graphic and screenshot annotating and sharing application was demo'd by Plasq at Macworld 2007 and a year later it's ready for the general public.

''The PC Guy'' resorts to defacing The New York Times

Shown at right, this latest online ad posted on nytimes.com, makes it seem that our long-suffering friend, 'the PC guy,' has taken it upon himself to edit a headline that claims Leopard's superiority over Vista.

Free YouSendIt plug-in for Adobe Photoshop released

YouSendIt, the service that lets you temporarily share 'larger than email will allow' sized files, has announced that it has released an Adobe Photoshop CS3 plug-in for us Mac users. The new plug-in allows you to send multiple Photoshop files in any format, securely, and without compressing.
